Renewal in method and Shari'ah thought is essential to affirming the meaning of the final divine message and realizing the concept of an enduring Shari'ah. It also requires vitality in ijtihad and sustained intellectual inquiry. A close examination of the system of Islamic jurisprudential reasoning shows that such renewal and vitality are best achieved through ijtihad imbued with the spirit of the maqasid and governed by a purposive outlook. This form of ijtihad is therefore an intellectual and methodological priority for launching the Ummah's civilizational and intellectual renewal. A number of leading scholars of Islamic jurisprudence and Islamic thought recognized this reality. They devoted substantial effort to exploring its meanings and articulating its foundations. Among them were scholars and thinkers who enriched the Kitab al-Ummah series with such perspectives. Their works engaged in deep grounding and analysis in order to develop an authentic maqasid-based method and an integrated, renewal-oriented jurisprudential vision. This vision moves beyond fragmented subsidiary rulings toward a holistic outlook and makes maqasid-based reasoning a foundation of ijtihad. Its aim is to secure human welfare in this life and the Hereafter and to embody that aim across the different spheres of human life, thereby enabling an Islamic civilizational witness. This study seeks to demonstrate this importance and to reinforce the value of maqasid-based ijtihad. It regards this approach as a major intellectual priority and as a path through which the Ummah may advance among civilizations. By tracing these scholarly efforts and inductively examining these writings, the study seeks to identify the civilizational thread that runs through the Kitab al-Ummah series. It also aims to infer the intellectual pattern that unites the studies shaped by a maqasid-based outlook. The study addresses the following central questions: What contribution has the Kitab al-Ummah series made to adopting maqasid-based ijtihad as a logic of intellectual and civilizational renewal in Islam? Why should this mode of ijtihad be regarded as a leading priority for the Ummah? The research uses tracing and induction to identify works in the series that are informed by a maqasid perspective. It also employs analytical reading to examine these contributions in depth. The intended outcome is to show that the Kitab al-Ummah series has made a major contribution to the revival and civilization of the Ummah through its deep engagement with the inner meanings and objectives of the Shari'ah, and by treating them as a starting point for growth and renewal and as a basis for construction and development.
