Abstract

This study investigates the application of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies in enhancing museum tourism, focusing on the National Museum of the Mujahid (Algiers) as a case study. A structured questionnaire was distributed to museum employees, and statistical analysis revealed a significant positive impact of VR and AR implementation on visitor engagement, learning outcomes, and overall museum performance. The findings indicate that immersive technologies can create more interactive and memorable experiences for visitors, increasing both satisfaction and repeat visits. Moreover, the study highlights how integrating digital innovations can support museum staff in delivering educational content effectively. Based on these results, practical recommendations are provided for museum managers and policymakers aiming to implement VR and AR tools. The research advocates for broader adoption of immersive technologies across Algerian museums, aligning local practices with international standards and contributing to the development of a more digitally enriched cultural tourism sector.
