Abstract

The planned execution of Turkish language education is of paramount importance. Curricula serve as the fundamental guide, delineating the learning outcomes, textbook structure, and assessment systems of Turkish language education. Therefore, curricula must be structured to align with contemporary needs, foster quality, and enhance academic skills. The methods by which listening and speaking skills, which develop first in individuals, and reading and writing skills, acquired later in school, are imparted to students, and how these skills are assessed, are specified within Turkish language curricula. It is essential not only to equip students with fundamental language skills but also to determine the extent to which these skills are effectively acquired. The assessment approach for these fundamental language skills is also integrated into the curriculum. The rapid advancement of technology, the emergence of new concepts daily, and the constant evolution of the qualities required by individuals necessitate the revision of educational curricula. In this context, it is unrealistic to expect an educational curriculum to remain in effect for many years. The ever-changing conditions inherently mandate curriculum modifications. This study examines the 2019 Turkish Language Curriculum and the 2024 Turkish Language Curriculum in terms of the assessment of fundamental language skills.
