This paper presents an extensive investigation into the structural, historical, and contemporary paradigms of the humanities within global higher education and modern socio-political frameworks. By critically evaluating discipline-specific methodologies, interrogating the rise of economic utilitarianism in educational policy, and examining the integration of digital methodologies, this study demonstrates the continuing necessity of humanistic enquiry. It argues that the humanities provide the essential infrastructure for democratic discourse, ethical technology development, cross-cultural communication, and individual self-realisation. Tracing the lineage of humanistic thought from classical antiquity through Renaissance humanism to post-modern critical theory and the digital humanities, this work outlines why critical thinking, textual hermeneutics, and cultural literacy remain fundamental in navigating the complexities of the twenty-first century.
