ETHICAL PRINCIPLES AND PUBLICATION ETHICS POLICY

AESD (Journal of Academic Education and Social Sciences) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. Our journal follows the guidelines set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and requires all stakeholders to adhere to the following ethical rules.

1. Responsibilities of Authors

  • Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must submit only entirely original works and appropriately cite all sources used. Plagiarism, data fabrication, and academic fraud are strictly prohibited.

  • Conflict of Interest: Authors must clearly disclose any financial or personal conflicts of interest that might influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript.

  • Multiple or Concurrent Publication: Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently is considered unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.

  • Authorship Criteria: Only individuals who have made a significant scientific contribution to the study should be listed as authors. "Gift authorship" or "ghost authorship" are regarded as ethical violations.

2. Responsibilities of Reviewers

  • Double-Blind Peer Review: AESD employs a double-blind review process; reviewers and authors remain anonymous to each other.

  • Objectivity and Confidentiality: Reviewers must evaluate manuscripts objectively and avoid personal bias. All information regarding the review process must be kept confidential and not shared with third parties.

  • Conflict of Interest: Reviewers should decline to review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with any of the authors or institutions.

3. Responsibilities of Editors

  • Independence and Impartiality: Editors make decisions based solely on scientific merit, without regard to the authors' identity, institutional affiliation, or background.

  • Handling Ethical Violations: Editors are responsible for investigating reported ethical misconduct in accordance with COPE flowcharts.

4. Handling Ethical Misconduct

If an ethical violation (plagiarism, data manipulation, etc.) is detected, the following process is initiated:

  1. Preliminary Assessment: The editorial board reviews the allegation.

  2. Defense: The accused author(s) are asked to provide a formal explanation.

  3. Sanctions: If the manuscript is unpublished, the process is terminated. If it has already been published, a "Retraction" notice is issued and publicly announced on the journal website. When necessary, the authors' institutions are notified.

  4. Appeals: Authors have the right to appeal decisions. Appeals are reviewed by an independent ethical commission.
